Timber frame complete for Cornwall annex

An extension to a rural property near Truro is well underway. The prefabricated timber frame has good environmental properties and low embodied energy. It is also very quick to assemble and is less reliant on dry weather, when compared to traditional masonry construction. The annex will provide a family room, two bedrooms, bathroom, utility with wc and a flexible mezzanine level.

Contemporary extension in Millbrook

Conceptual designs are underway to extend a terraced property in Millbrook, Cornwall. The brief called for a better link between house and garden, which slopes steeply. Crayon has submitted plans for extensive alterations to a traditional residential cottage in Carnon Downs, Cornwall. A two-storey side extension will accommodate a new entrance hall, shower room, bedroom and family bathroom. A rear extension will incorporate a utility, dining room and kitchen with folding doors to the terraced rear garden.

Detached property remodelled

Crayon has been commissioned to redesign the external treatment of a detached house in Plymstock, Plymouth. Natural stone and timber weatherboarding has been proposed, with a new entrance canopy in zinc. The owners were inspired by classic proportions and materials in the Hamptons, New York.
